The Logo Journey: From Bluetooth to Belarma
Share
When I first started designing the Belarma logo, I had a vision—triangles. Because, you know, they represent strength, mountains, balance, and all that deep, symbolic stuff. For a brief, shining moment, I thought I was a genius and came up with what I was sure was the one.
Then I took a step back and realized… I had basically created a Bluetooth symbol. Incredible. Now, not only could my logo represent strength, but maybe it could also help you pair your headphones...

From Shapes to Shields
I spent way too much time shaping, shuffling, resizing, cropping, and staring at my screen like a mad scientist, but eventually, I landed on something that felt right. The letters BG—for Belarma Gear—are subtly embedded into an abstract shield.
And because I love a good nod to BJJ, I incorporated belt rank colors into the design. The largest section is white belt—because let’s be honest, that’s where most of us start and stay for a long time. As you move through the ranks, the sections get smaller, leading all the way to red for black belt, where the group is much smaller, just like in life. A little hidden meaning for those who know.

So, What’s With the Name?
Belarma Gear. Sounds cool, but what does it mean?
I wanted a name that honored the Brazilian side of jiu-jitsu, so I pulled from "arma" (armor in Portuguese). Then, I paired it with "bella" (beautiful) to create Belarma -> Beautiful Armor. Because clothing, especially in martial arts, is a kind of armor. And let’s be real, a beautiful gi, hoodie or rash guard just hits differently.
Keeping It Simple, but Playful
I kept the core colors clean and simple, but don’t worry—I left plenty of room for playfulness in my designs. Expect gear that’s both thoughtful and fun, because let’s face it, BJJ is already serious enough when you’re getting folded in half by someone who weighs 50 pounds less than you.
More to Come
This is just the start. I can’t wait to share more about the brand, the designs, and everything else that’s coming next. Stay tuned.
